The Chicago Province recently appointed Mr. James M. (Chuck) Thompson
as its Director of Ignatian Programs. Chuck (in photo, left, with

studies at Loyola Academy, will begin serving in this newly created
post in mid-August, 2001 He has graduate degrees in religious education
and English.
As Director
of Ignatian Programs, Chuck will help develop and implement programs
dealing with Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit identity for the faculties,
staff members and others serving in the Chicago Province's five
high schools. This new effort is an added emphasis on two of the
province's priorities: assuring the Ignatian character of our schools
and strengthening the Jesuit partnership with its lay colleagues.
In addition to complementing existing programs, Chuck will also
begin new ones, including a program for Ignatian leadership development.
He will also serve as a resource person for those high school personnel
currently responsible for Ignatian formation.
While Chuck
will initially work with the province high schools, in time he will
support initiatives and help design programs for the province universities,
retreat centers, parishes, the Loyola Press and other province services.
Chuck will be
working out of the province office under the direction of James
Stoeger, SJ, province assistant for secondary education and pastoral
ministries.
