Justice Week

Xavier University is hosting Peace & Justice Week Monday, November
26 through Friday, November 30.
There
are a variety of activities scheduled during the week, including
a “Vigil for Victims,” honoring martyrs for peace and
justice, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 29, at Bellarmine Chapel.
Planned by the Voices of Solidarity student group at Xavier, this
vigil commemorates the 12th anniversary of the deaths of six Jesuits
from the University of Central America.
The
following is a schedule of events for the week. All events will
be held at Dorothy Day House, 1519 Herald Ave., unless otherwise
indicated.
Monday, Nov. 26
1:30-3 p.m. -- “REAL ALTERNATIVES TO WAR: A FORUM”
Peace means doing something!
Room 15, Williams College of Business
Rev. Ben Urmston, S.J., director of peace and justice programs and
Sr. Rosie Miller, OSF, theology department, will lead the discussion.
Tuesday,
Nov. 27
7 p.m. -- Mass for Peace & Justice
8 p.m.
– Movie: “Brassed Off,” An inspirational movie
with hope-filled theme.
Wednesday,
Nov. 28
8-9 p.m. -- “Envision a Peaceful World,” Guided meditation
9 p.m.
-- “World Party,” A celebration of diversity
Friday,
Nov. 30
Noon -- “Campus Prayer for Peace & Justice”
Xavier staff in all departments are encouraged to pray and reflect
in small groups, and to join in a campus-wide large-group vigil
on the Academic Mall.
Peace & Justice Week is sponsored by Xavier’s Peace &
Justice Programs.
