Province Works in Aurangabad Growing Quickly
Thursday, April 11, 2002

The new school building at Aurangabad
February 18, 2002, was a red-letter day for St. Ignatius School,
Aurangabad. The new wing of the high school was inaugurated with
the blessing by Archbishop B.J. Osta, and Fr. Provincial T.A. Sammy
cutting the ribbon. Fr. John Bosco and scholastic Rajan Lakra, ably
assisted by the staff and students, prepared a colorful cultural
culture program. The prayer service before the blessing was tastefully
conducted with readings and chants from various religions. Fr. Rajesh
Kant made the massive gathering happy with refreshments. We appreciated
the presence of our brothers and sisters from other communities.
The
village work is thriving. On Feb. 23, Rajan and Rajesh brought together
over 350 children at Children’s Day at Hemantpur. Many of
the nearby villagers gathered also. Rajesh Kant and the sisters
organized a Training Program for non-formal education animators
and health workers from Feb. 26 to 28. The District Magistrate of
Aurangabad, Mr. S. Siddarth, was so impressed by the villagers that
he spent over two hours with the people. Mr. Dilip Tirkey, the Block
Development Officer, also encouraged the villagers to start self-help
groups to build a united community
