Lord,
in this month
when we celebrate
the triumph of your cross
we ask you in a special way
to inspire many young men
to stand with your mother
as beloved disciples,
following in the footsteps of Ignatius
under the banner of your cross.
Pour out your spirit upon us,
that your passion might be enkindled anew in us.
Give us the courage
to walk the way of the cross
with our brothers and sisters.
Give us the wisdom and strength to
know how to stand with all those
who are wounded and rejected,
the lonely and hopeless
with whom your Son identifies
and whom he has embraced with his
nailed and outstretched arms.
We ask this in the name of Jesus.
