A Week in the Life of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (Cover Story)
Operating under the slogan "Your most important work may begin after you retire," the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) offers people 50 and over a unique opportunity to serve the poor while nurturing their faith in Ignatian tradition. Created in 1995 by two Jesuits, Fr. Charles Costello, SJ, and Fr. James Conroy, SJ, IVC has spread from its Baltimore roots to 13 regions throughout the US. For 33 members of the Chicago chapter who volunteer at a variety of host agencies, IVC is making a profound difference in their lives and in the lives of those they serve. The Chicago Province opened a new chapter in Cincinnati this winter.
